• Menorca is blessed with stunning landscapes and scenery, a fabulous rugged coastline and miles of unspoilt countryside scattered with historic archaeological sites and settlements. The island has a rich heritage and boasts many incredibly beautiful beaches, secluded coves and crystal clear turquoise waters. Declared a biosphere reserve by UNESCO in 1993, Menorca is a nature lovers' paradise, and is home to an array of vegetation and wildlife. There are many outdoor pursuits to enjoy including walking, cycling and horse riding, as well as water-based activities such as kayaking, sailing, scuba diving and windsurfing. There are also some bustling towns and sleepy villages to explore including the capital city of Mahon with its well preserved churches sitting proudly above its magnificent harbour, and the old capital of Ciutadella, at the opposite end of the island with its gothic cathedral, palaces and mediaeval quarter. Don't miss the opportunity to sample some of the local gastronomic delights including "ensaimadas" which are light, delicate pastries, the Mahon cheese, the local jams and honey, and not forgetting the "Caldereta de Langosta" a rich lobster stew enjoyed by the King of Spain during his visits to the island. You can marvel at the amazing skills of the black Menorcan horses and their riders, as well as try the local tipple "Pomada", a refreshing mix of Menorca Gin and Lemon.
